Inspired by Dali

Congratulations to my good friend Kristen Steinman. Her collection at the Pratt 2010 Senior Fashion Show was by far the most wearable and well-executed. Not to mention, there aren't many girls out there who have devoted themselves to designing menswear. Potential retail gold? Definitely. Potential future in fashion? Without a doubt.

Remember Now by Karl Lagerfeld

Cute? Awkward? You decide.

A Poem from my Youth

I'm just as much of a hopeless romantic now, than I was 6 years ago when I wrote this.

You Gave Me The Night

Give me the night
and avenues bathed in neons,
that meet streets of dusky calm.
In a chit chat café,
a lover at my sidewalk table
sipping Moroccan mint tea together.
Oh the night.
Bare branched trees
distorted by peach street lights.
Your sweet nothings,
and rare sweet somethings.
Confess your love to me
and order us some more.
You make these nights complete,
the city even better.
It belong to us now,
just a couple of hours more
and I have you to thank.
So let's take the train home
and only if I can hold your hand.

Transgender Givenchy Realness

The first of the Fall/Winter 2010 campaigns to slowly trickle in comes to us from none other than the house of Givenchy. At first glance the ad, shot by Mert and Marcus, is unmistakeably reminiscent of last season's ads. However according to WWD, joining the likes of Simon Nessman and Mariacarla Boscono is Lea T., Riccardo Tisci's longtime personal assistant and former fit model for his eponymous label. Lea also happens to be a MTF transgender. The constant interplay between the masculine and feminine is a major element for Tisci and for Givenchy, so to use Lea in the ad campaign is all the more appropriate. The ads also include newcomers Paolo Rolden, Joan Smalls, Ming Xi, and Malgosia Bela. J'adore diversité.

John Bartlett x Rogues Gallery S/S 2010

No summer would be complete without a trip to the 'ol bath house. At least that's what the latest Rogues Gallery for John Bartlett collaboration seems to suggest. Each unique, vintage print pay homage to a different establishment of pleasure. I'll take one of each! The tee and tanks range from $50-$75, and accessories $30-$100. The collection is available exclusively at the John Bartlett boutique on 7th Avenue And Charles Street. Hot dayum!

Brutal/Beautiful

"This collection captures the complexity of the crossroads of youth, and the process of self-discovery. Green draws inspiration from the romanticism of New York City subculture, where beauty shuns conformity and convention."

Resurrected

Hello. Again. My name is Matthew and consider this a fresh start.

Here's a quick recap of the past year or so. I'm basically picking up where my old blog left off:

My friend Michael Hertzberg and I made it official, and HOMMEBOY.net was founded in February 2009. This past March, our online shop launched.

I turned 21.

I've made some new friends.

I made a few purchases here and there.

I'm still at the Architecture school at Pratt, and undecided about life afterward.

My obsession with Givenchy continues...

However, i'm also currently obsessed with BonChon Chicken.

I had an amazing NY Fashion Week...

And lastly, this is how I feel on a sticky, humid, wet day like today...
